January 24 - october March 1, 2025

Opening Reception: January 24th, 6 - 9 PM
On View: January 24th - March 1st, 2024

SPY Projects is pleased to present our upcoming exhibition, Live to Tell, with Paz De La Huerta and Jaxon Demme. Live to Tell will feature a combination of Huerta’s paintings and Demme’s sculpture. An opening reception will be held on Friday, January 24th, 6 - 9 PM at 3709 W Jefferson Blvd, Los Angeles, CA.

Live to Tell is about self-mythology in the face of tragedy. Demme’s sculptures, frozen in chrome tableux, intertwine with the contorted figuration of De La Huerta’s paintings. They are artifacts of struggle and pictoral and sculptural fairy tales. Regal bliss is shattered and castle walls crumble. The subject-princess returns, a battered and bruised conqueror of circumstance.

A portion of the proceeds from this exhibition will go directly to families that have been displaced by the fires in Los Angeles. If you would like to offer more direct support for the ongoing effort to rebuild and recover after this tragedy, please go to https://lacity.gov/LAstrong where you can donate to the California Community Foundation Wildfire Recovery Fund, Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, or the many GoFundMe’s for the families who lost their homes in the fire.

This exhibition is accompanied by a gallery essay written by Alissa Bennett. You find that, along with the rest of the press release, by clicking the link to your left.
